| 2 | | WHEREAS, On March 27, 1912, the charter was issued for the |
| 3 | | DeKalb County Soil Improvement Association, which later became |
| 4 | | the DeKalb County Farm Bureau; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, DeKalb County was one of the first counties in |
| 6 | | Illinois to establish the organization and hire a farm advisor |
| 7 | | to carry out the responsibilities of Farm Bureau work; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Henry H. Parke was one of the organizers and |
| 9 | | founders of Farm Bureau; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, In 1917, he and others formed the DeKalb County |
| 11 | | Agricultural Association, a spin-off of the Soil Improvement |
| 12 | | Association, incorporated for the purpose of becoming engaged |
| 13 | | in the commercial seed business; the flying ear of corn later |
| 14 | | became the symbol of the DeKalb Agricultural Association; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, On April 28, 1926, the DeKalb County Soil |
| 16 | | Improvement Association officially became the DeKalb County |
| 17 | | Farm Bureau; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Other associations developed out of the Farm |
| 19 | | Bureau, including the Farm Bureau Farm Management Association, |
| 20 | | Illinois Farm Supply, and Illinois Country Mutual Insurance |
