| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Herbert L. |
| 4 | | Johnson, Jr. on the occasion of his 5 years of dedicated |
| 5 | | service as Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Herbert Johnson, Jr. earned his |
| 7 | | associate's degree in business administration and his bachelor |
| 8 | | degree with a concentration in management from Robert Morris |
| 9 | | College; he subsequently earned his Masters of Divinity degree |
| 10 | | from the McCormick Theological Seminary of the Associated |
| 11 | | Theological Schools; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Herbert Johnson, Jr. is the proud pastor of |
| 13 | | Liberty Baptist Church; following his motto, "A Church for the |
| 14 | | Community", he has created the ministry priorities of Worship |
| 15 | | God, Empowering People and Serving the Community; he has |
| 16 | | promoted the belief that "equipping" is one of the primary ways |
| 17 | | to help people develop their spiritual gift and encourage their |
| 18 | | involvement in ministry and social justice and, in turn, |
| 19 | | mobilize these same people to "equip" others; he also believes |
| 20 | | that academic preparation will assist others to expand and |
| 21 | | fulfill their spiritual call and vision; and
|
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Herbert L. Johnson, Jr. serves as CEO and |
|

| 1 | | President of Freedom West Development
Corporation, a 501(c)(3) |
| 2 | | non-profit organization that gives back-to-school supplies to |
| 3 | | over 1,200 youth; under his leadership, Liberty Baptist Church |
| 4 | | has also served 1,000 people with toys, food baskets, and |
| 5 | | community outreach picnics; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Herbert Johnson, Jr. is a member of the |
| 7 | | National Baptist Convention USA, Inc., the Baptist General |
| 8 | | State Convention of Illinois, the Southern Baptist Convention, |
| 9 | | the Illinois Baptist Association, and the Rockford and Vicinity |
| 10 | | District Association; he is a board member of the North Central |
| 11 | | Baptist Association; he also serves his community through |
| 12 | | numerous leadership positions, including the Input Committee |
| 13 | | of the District 205 Rockford Public Schools, Vice Chairman of |
| 14 | | the Rockford Mass Transit District, and President of the |
| 15 | | Rockford Minister's Fellowship; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Herbert Johnson, Jr. will celebrate his 5th |
| 17 | | anniversary as Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church with a |
| 18 | | celebration in his honor on March 18, 2012; therefore, be it
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 20 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 21 | | we congratulate Herbert L. Johnson, Jr. on the occasion of his |
| 22 | | 5 years of dedicated service as Pastor of Liberty Baptist |
| 23 | | Church and wish him continued success and happiness in the |
