HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Mike Pruitt, co-owner of the Vine Restaurant in Grayslake, on being named one of the 10 outstanding young people of the year by the Illinois Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees); and

WHEREAS, Recipients of the award, in the Illinois Jaycees' 47th year, were judged on how they have exemplified themselves in the following areas: personal improvement or accomplishments; financial success and economic innovation; social improvement to major contemporary problems; voluntary service; cultural achievement; and influence in public opinion; and

WHEREAS, Mike Pruitt is a 2001 graduate of Grayslake Community High School; he was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, and co-founded the Vine Martini & Wine Bar, one of the most popular restaurants in Grayslake in 2006; and

WHEREAS, The Vine, an award-winning restaurant, has become a destination eatery helping to make Grayslake's downtown an active night spot; and

WHEREAS, He sits on the board of several nonprofit civic organizations, including the Grayslake Exchange Club, of which he is the incoming president this year; he is on the board of the Grayslake Farmers Market; he is on the board of the Oasis Youth Center; and he is a leading organizer of the popular annual "Rib Throwdown" fundraising event for the Youth Center; and

WHEREAS, He and other winners will be honored May 12 in Springfield in conjunction with the Illinois Jaycees' spring General Assembly meeting; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mike Pruitt on this honor and wish him continued success for years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mike Pruitt as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
