HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Patricia 
4Gabrielson on her retirement as Troy Township Assessor; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, After 36 years of service to the residents of Troy 
6Township, Assessor Patricia A. Gabrielson retired on March 31, 
72012; her history with the Township goes back to the 1960s, 
8when her late husband, Paul Barnes, was Township Assessor; from 
91962 to 1968, the office of the Assessor was in their home and 
10she worked part-time calculating the assessments and working 
11with both the taxpayers and county officials; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, In 1982, then Assessor Frank Marco hired her to 
13work for the Township as an employee of the Assessor's office; 
14upon his passing in 1983, Clarence Balla became Assessor and 
15she continued her work with the Assessor's office until 1995, 
16when she was appointed as the Assessor upon Mr. Balla's 
17retirement; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, She went on to be elected as the Troy Township 
19Assessor for a total of 4 more terms; in 1990, she achieved her 
20CIAO Designation (Certified Illinois Assessing Official) and, 
21in 1995, achieved the CIAO-I (Intermediate) Designation; at the 
22time she received the CIAO-I Designation, she was one of only 5

1individuals in all of Will County to achieve this level; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, In the fall of 1996, she helped to create and 
3implement the Township Communicator, the semi-annual 
4newsletter mailed to all residents of Troy Township, as well as 
5starting the Troy Township website; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, She is a lifelong resident of Troy Township; she 
7is married to Gerry Gabrielson and they have 4 children and 5 
8grandchildren; she is a 50-year member of the Troy Fire 
9Department Ladies Auxiliary and is also a Past President of the 
10Auxiliary; therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
13we congratulate Patricia Gabrielson on her retirement and wish 
14her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to Patricia Gabrielson as a symbol of our respect and 
17esteem.
