HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Carl D. Gutierrez 
4on the occasion of his retirement after 28 years of service 
5with the Illinois State Police; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Carl Gutierrez began his Illinois State Police 
7career as a trooper with the District 5 State Police in Joliet 
8in 1984; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, In 1989, Carl Gutierrez transferred to the 
10Illinois State Police Executive Security Unit, where he 
11performed protection duties for various elected Illinois 
12constitutional officers, including former Governor James R. 
13Thompson, former Secretary of State Jim Edgar, former Attorney 
14General Jim Ryan, former Comptroller Loleta Didrickson, and 
15former Lieutenant Governor Corinne Wood; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, While serving with the Illinois State Police 
17Executive Security Unit, Carl Gutierrez held the position of 
18Sergeant; he was later promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant; 
19and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Carl Gutierrez served as a squad supervisor for 
21the Illinois State Police Division of Internal Investigations

1from 2002 to 2003; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, In 2003, Carl Gutierrez was promoted to 
3Lieutenant; that same year, he joined the FBI's Joint Terrorism 
4Task Force in Chicago, where he served as the Northern 
5Supervisor for Counter Terrorism Operations until his 
6retirement on April 1, 2012; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
9we congratulate Carl D. Gutierrez on the occasion of his 
10retirement, thank him for his many years of distinguished 
11service in law enforcement, and wish him many happy and healthy 
12retirement years; and be it further
  
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14presented to the Carl D. Gutierrez and his family as a symbol 
15of our respect and esteem.
