| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate James Casey on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as Director of the Oak Lawn Public | ||||||
| 5 | Library; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, James Casey earned his Ph.D. in librarianship from | ||||||
| 7 | Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, James Casey began his career at the Oak Lawn | ||||||
| 9 | Public Library on March 1, 1992; prior to his tenure at the Oak | ||||||
| 10 | Lawn Public Library, he served as head librarian at the Ohio | ||||||
| 11 | Historical Society, head reference librarian at Western | ||||||
| 12 | Reserve Historical Society, an assistant reference librarian | ||||||
| 13 | at Cleveland Public Library, and Director of the Pickaway | ||||||
| 14 | County District Public Library in Circleville, Ohio; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, During his tenure at the Oak Lawn Public Library, | ||||||
| 16 | James Casey has been instrumental in numerous improvements to | ||||||
| 17 | the library, including the initiation of the Employee Position | ||||||
| 18 | Reclassification Project, the formulation and implementation | ||||||
| 19 | of the library's Long Range Plan, several significant | ||||||
| 20 | construction and revenue-generation projects, the development | ||||||
| 21 | of the library's Computer Center, Art Gallery, and Local | ||||||
| 22 | History Unit, the installation and development of the library's | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | network and webpage, and the procurement of grants from DCEO | ||||||
| 2 | for the Space Planning Project in 2006 and for the Youth | ||||||
| 3 | Service Department and the Remodeling of the Meeting Room | ||||||
| 4 | Washrooms in 2010; he also planned and participated in meetings | ||||||
| 5 | between local state legislators, library administrators, the | ||||||
| 6 | Community Library Foundation Board and chamber of commerce | ||||||
| 7 | members and maintained positive relationships with the Library | ||||||
| 8 | Board, the Friends of the Library, and the Village of Oak Lawn; | ||||||
| 9 | and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, A retirement reception will be held in honor of | ||||||
| 11 | James Casey and his work on June 15, 2012 from 2 - 4 P.M. at the | ||||||
| 12 | Oak Lawn Public Library; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, James Casey serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
| 14 | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||
| 15 | Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 18 | we congratulate James Casey on the occasion of his retirement | ||||||
| 19 | and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it | ||||||
| 20 | further

| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 22 | presented to James Casey as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
