HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Donald F. 
4Flynn of Chicago, who recently passed away; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Leo High School and Marquette 
6University and began his career as an accountant; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, He began a 15-year stint with Waste Management in 
81972, holding positions that included chief financial officer, 
9senior vice president, and director; in 1987, he and 2 other 
10former Waste Management executives acquired controlling 
11interest in the video rental business Blockbuster; he founded 
12LKQ Corporation in 1998; the $2.8 billion recycled auto parts 
13business, is named for the industry term "like, kind and 
14quality"; and he was the major shareholder of Emerald Casino; 
15and

  
 
16    WHEREAS, He was among a dedicated cadre of alumni whose 
17support has been key to the survival of Leo High School, a 
18Catholic school on the Southside of Chicago; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Donald Flynn was the beloved husband and best 
20friend of Beverly; the dear father of Kevin (Susan), Brian 
21(Michelle), and Dereck Millington, who was like a son; the dear

1Bumpa of Donnie, Shannon, Brendan, Katie, and Dylan; and the 
2fond brother of Robert (Patricia) Flynn and the late Marilyn; 
3therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of 
7Donald Flynn; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Donald Flynn as a symbol of our 
10sincere sympathy.
