HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Patricia A. Harris-Brown 
4on the occasion of her retirement on June 2, 2012, after many 
5years of service as a 1st grade teacher at Lilly-Freeman 
6Elementary School in East St. Louis; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Patricia Harris-Brown was educated in School 
8District 189 and graduated from East St. Louis Senior High 
9School; she furthered her studies at Southern Illinois 
10University in Edwardsville, where she earned her bachelor's 
11degree in elementary education and her master's degree in 
12counselor's education; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Patricia Harris-Brown attended school in School 
14District 189, excelled, and was employed by the district in 
151976; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Patricia Harris-Brown serves as an example of 
17teachers who gave back to the district and made education and 
18learning an exciting and rewarding experience for her students; 
19and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Patricia Harris-Brown has inspired thousands of 
21students in East St. Louis throughout her 36 1/2 years of

1teaching in the district; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, Patricia Harris-Brown will always cherish some of 
3the greatest experiences she has had with her students over the 
4years and the lives she has touched; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patricia Harris-Brown is looking forward to 
6retirement and the rich experiences that await her outside the 
7classroom; therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
10we congratulate Patricia A. Harris-Brown on her retirement and 
11wish her all the best in her future endeavors; and be it 
12further
  
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14presented to Patricia Harris-Brown as a symbol of our esteem 
15and respect.
