HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Rosemoor 
4Community Association, Roseland Heights Association, and the 
5Developing  Community Project on the dedication of the Dr. 
6Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Bridge at 99th and 100th 
7Streets and King Drive; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The dedication was held on August 27, 2011; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The Rosemoor Community Association, the Roseland 
10Heights Community Association, and the Developing Community 
11Project worked together as the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 
12Gateway Initiative to create a community gateway over the 
13Bishop Ford Expressway in Chicago, between 99th and 100th 
14Streets on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The plans included a memorial honoring Dr. King on 
16both the North and South side of the bridge as well as 
17welcoming people into the Roseland community; and

  
 
18    WHEREAS, The dedication coincided with the unveiling of the 
19Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C., on 
20August 28, 2011; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate the Rosemoor Community Association, the 
4Roseland Heights Association, and the Developing Community 
5Project on the dedication of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 
6Memorial Bridge; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the Rosemoor Community Association, the Roseland 
9Heights Association, and the Developing Community Project as a 
10symbol of our respect and esteem.
