HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate  Robert E. 
4Ritschel, President of Spoon River College, on his retirement; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Robert E. Ritschel, the seventh president of Spoon 
7River College, assumed this leadership post on August 1, 2005; 
8and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Dr. Ritschel is a career educator, having been 
10associated as a teacher or administrator in both community 
11colleges and universities in Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, 
12Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, South Carolina, and Texas; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, He is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma; he received a 
14Bachelor of Arts in Education from Northeastern Oklahoma State 
15University, a Master of Music from the University of Texas at 
16Austin, and a Doctor of Education from the University of 
17Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. Ritschel has taught students from junior high 
19to graduate school and has published articles in several 
20national educational journals and higher education 
21publications; and

1    WHEREAS, He is a member of the Canton Rotary Club, serving 
2recently as president; he received the Rotarian of the Year by 
3the Malden, Missouri Rotary in 1997-98, and he served as a 
4member of the Board of Directors for the Steamboat Springs, 
5Colorado, Rotary Club, where he was a member from 2000-2005; he 
6is also a Paul Harris Fellow; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, He will enjoy retirement along with his wife of 43 
8years, Sharyl; his daughters Jennifer and Karen; his grandsons 
9Ethan, Max, Jack, and Bennett; and his granddaughter, Lanie; 
10therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
13we congratulate Robert Ritschel on his retirement and wish him 
14all the best in his future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to Robert Ritschel as a symbol of our respect and 
17esteem.
