| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Natalie |
| 4 | | Rosenthal Seltzer of Park Ridge and Chicago, who passed away on |
| 5 | | April 28, 2012; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, She was born August 12, 1921; she was a life-long |
| 7 | | Chicagoan and a 35-year resident of Park Ridge; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, She studied at the University of Chicago, earning |
| 9 | | an A.B. degree in 1944 and a Masters degree from the School of |
| 10 | | Social Service Administration in 1948; while a student at the |
| 11 | | University of Chicago she met her husband of over 50 years, |
| 12 | | Arthur Owen Seltzer, who was her economics instructor; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, She devoted her life to helping others; she was |
| 14 | | appointed as an instructor at the University of Illinois |
| 15 | | Chicago Campus in 1956 and as Professor and Head of the |
| 16 | | Department of Medical Social Work in 1977, a position she held |
| 17 | | until 1988, when she returned to the faculty; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, In retirement, she became absorbed in her passions |
| 19 | | of travel and the arts, in particular the Lyric Opera of |
| 20 | | Chicago; and
