HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of John D. 
4"Jack" Unzicker, who passed away on February 12, 2012; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, John D. "Jack" Unzicker was born on May 8, 1938, 
6in Harvey, Illinois; his community honored him in 2004 by 
7inducting him into the Bremen High School Hall of Fame; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, John D. "Jack" Unzicker enjoyed natural sciences, 
9earning his bachelor's degree in zoology in 1962, his master's 
10degree in entomology in 1963, and his doctorate in entomology 
11in 1966 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; 
12and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure at the University of 
14Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he worked in various capacities 
15at the Illinois Natural History Survey, where he authored 34 
16scientific articles and 3 books through 1986; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, John D. "Jack" Unzicker took his scientific 
18expertise to the Illinois General Assembly as a research 
19analyst for the House Democratic Caucus, where he worked from 
201987 until his death; and

1    WHEREAS, John D. "Jack" Unzicker distinguished himself in 
2environmental and public utility policy and legislation for the 
3Illinois General Assembly and will be fondly remembered by the 
4Illinois House of Representatives; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of 
8John D. "Jack" Unzicker; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of John D. "Jack" Unzicker as an 
11expression of our sympathy.
