HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Marist 
4Sophomore Geometry Team on winning first place in the Illinois 
5State Math Finals competition on May 5, 2012; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, For the second year in a row, Marist High School 
7Mathematics students won first place in the Illinois State Math 
8Finals at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The Marist Sophomore Team includes:

Liam Gibbs 
10from Most Holy Redeemer in Evergreen Park;
James Costin from 
11St. Catherine in Oak Lawn; Jack O'Sullivan from St. Linus in 
12Oak Lawn; Anna Scheiber from Cardinal Bernard in Orland Park;

13Sara Hansen from Homer Junior High in Homer Glen;
Kathy Ulaczek 
14from St. Alexander in Palos Heights; Sandra Hansen from Homer 
15Junior High in Homer Glen; Anne Marie Leonard from St. George 
16in Orland Park; Maeve McDermott from St. Christopher in 
17Midlothian; and Carrie Olsen from St. Damian in Oak Forest; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Out of the 167 participants in the competition, 
19highlights included James Costin finishing in 2nd place and 
20Anna Scheiber placing in 3rd; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, Marist also performed well in other competitions,

1coming in second in State in Algebra Two; 6th place in 
2Freshman/Sophomore 8 person; and 4th in the Freshman/Sophomore 
3Relay; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, The team moderators are Owen Glennon and Jeff 
5Nicholson and the assistant coaches are John Brekenfelder and 
6Julie Kamper; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
9we congratulate the Marist Sophomore Geometry Team and wish 
10them continued success in the future; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the Marist Sophomore Geometry Team as a symbol of 
13our respect and esteem.
