HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Saint Anthony High School Bulldogs on their outstanding and memorable 2012 baseball season; and

WHEREAS, The St. Anthony Bulldogs set a school record for wins in a season, with a record of 31-8-1, and impressively captured the first State title in the program's history by defeating the Tuscola Warriors 6-1 in the Class 1A State Baseball Championship Game, allowing Tuscola to score only one run in the 5th inning; and

WHEREAS, Highlights of the St. Anthony Bulldogs season included regional wins over Louisville (6-0) and Dieterich (4-2), Sectional wins over Stew-Stras (13-1) and South Central (5-0), a State Championship quarterfinals win over Alton Marquette (6-2), and the State Championship victory over Tuscola (6-1); and

WHEREAS, Impressive performances from the St. Anthony Bulldogs include those of Ben Hecht, who went 11-0 as pitcher and hit .460; Reed Willenborg, who went 9-5 as pitcher and drove in the winning runs in the championship game; Austin Bushur, who had 2 huge 3-run homers in the Super-Sectional and championship games; Jared Having, who had 3 hits in the championship series; and Michael Kabbes, who had 3 huge hits in the championship series; and

WHEREAS, The St. Anthony Bulldogs were led by the team's head coach, Kenny Miller, and the assistant coaches, Grant Keller and David McDevitt; and

WHEREAS, The members of the St. Anthony Bulldogs baseball team are Jared Having, Reed Willenborg, Michael Kabbes, Ben Hecht, Cody Pike, Charlie Schultz, Austin Bushur, Eli Dasenbrock, Alex Hoelscher, Scott Rentfrow, Neil Williams, Kyle Bourgeois, Zachary Gardewine, Connor Greene, Jacob Lorenz, Braden Puckett, Michael Stephens, Thomas Stephens, and Eric Gurtner; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Coach Kenny Miller and the entire St. Anthony High School baseball team on their tremendous accomplishments during the 2012 season and their victory at the IHSA Class 1A State Baseball Championship; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Superintendent Fr. David Hoefler, Principal Ron Niebrugge, Athletic Director Kevin Palmer, Coach Kenny Miller, and the entire St. Anthony State Championship baseball team as an expression of our esteem, with best wishes for continued success in the future.
