| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the Goreville Lady Cats |
| 4 | | softball team on winning the Class 1A state championship on |
| 5 | | June 2, 2012, in East Peoria; and

| 6 | | WHEREAS, Sydnee Rushing tossed a two-hit shutout, and the |
| 7 | | Lady Cats defeated Payson-Seymour, 6-0, to claim their first |
| 8 | | state championship; she achieved the remarkable feat of |
| 9 | | throwing a shutout in every postseason game; the Lady Cats |
| 10 | | pushed across four runs in the second inning, and that was |
| 11 | | plenty of support for Rushing, who struck out 13 batters; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Ashlee Webb reached base on an error, allowing |
| 13 | | Haley Darnell to score the first run of the game; Rushing |
| 14 | | followed with a two-run single to center, and Shelby Miller |
| 15 | | smoked a run-scoring double as well; Taylor Odom blasted her |
| 16 | | 24th homer over the left field fence in the fifth inning to add |
| 17 | | to her single-season state record; and

| 18 | | WHEREAS, The Lady Cats state championship was the crowning |
| 19 | | achievement in coach Shanna Massey's seven-year career at |
| 20 | | Goreville; they had to deal with the pressure of being the |
| 21 | | favorite all season, and they delivered with a 35-4 record; and
