HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate our friend and colleague, Illinois Representative Patti Bellock, on the occasion of receiving the distinguished 2012 Legislator of the Year Award from the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC); and

WHEREAS, The American Legislative Exchange Council bestows its Legislator of the Year Award to legislators who demonstrate outstanding leadership and commitment to the Jeffersonian principles of free markets, limited government, and federalism; and

WHEREAS, Representative Bellock was nominated by her peers in recognition of her outstanding, bipartisan work to reform Medicaid in the State of Illinois; to achieve this goal, Representative Bellock spent thousands of hours in meetings crafting Medicaid reforms that protected the most vulnerable while helping to put the State's Medicaid system back on a path toward financial stability; her efforts resulted in the passage of the largest-ever Medicaid reform legislation in Illinois history; and

WHEREAS, Representative Bellock serves as a model of leadership, integrity, and dedication to American values for the legislators and citizens of this State and the nation at large; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate our friend and colleague, Illinois Representative Patti Bellock, on the occasion of receiving the distinguished 2012 Legislator of the Year Award from ALEC and thank her for her work to reform Medicaid in this State; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Representative Patti Bellock as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
