HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate William Niro on his 2012 
4induction into the Arena League Football (AFL) Hall of Fame; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, William Niro is one of the original founders of 
7the AFL; he has spent 25 years contributing to the progress and 
8advancement of the league; he helped the AFL recently see their 
925th anniversary of operations; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, William Niro represented founder and game 
11inventor, Jim Foster, in formation of the league in 1987; he 
12founded Gridiron Enterprises, which established the team-owned 
13AFL with Foster, now-commissioner Jerry B. Kurz, and Mike 
14Highley in 1990; he also managed the business, legal, and 
15financial affairs of the league from 1989-1992; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, William Niro served on the AFL Board of Directors 
17for 20 years from 1990-2010, and still dedicates his time and 
18effort to the league; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, William Niro was involved in every aspect of the 
20game other than the play on the field, even putting together 
21the goal frames at one point; and

1    WHEREAS, William Niro will be officially inducted into the 
2AFL Hall of Fame the first week of the 2013 season; therefore, 
3be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate William Niro on being inducted into the AFL 
7Hall of Fame and on the AFL's 25th anniversary; and be it 
8further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to William Niro as an expression of our esteem and 
11respect.
