| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Judy Socha for | ||||||
| 4 | receiving the 2012 Most Dedicated Blood Drive Coordinator of | ||||||
| 5 | the Year Award from the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood | ||||||
| 6 | Centers; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, In 1971, inspired by her son's illness, Judy | ||||||
| 8 | hosted her first blood drive and collected her first 100 units | ||||||
| 9 | of blood; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, In 1976, Judy worked with the Village of Addison | ||||||
| 11 | to establish the Addison Blood Commission; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, As the director of the Addison Blood Commission, | ||||||
| 13 | Judy has worked to involve the whole community in her efforts | ||||||
| 14 | by establishing ongoing blood drives throughout the village at | ||||||
| 15 | local churches, organizations, high schools, and businesses; | ||||||
| 16 | and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Judy has raised awareness of the importance of | ||||||
| 18 | volunteer blood donation through countless speaking | ||||||
| 19 | engagements, TV and radio appearances, and tabling at community | ||||||
| 20 | events; and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | WHEREAS, Over the past 4 decades Judy has conducted over | ||||||
| 2 | 225 blood drives; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, One pint of blood saves 1 to 3 lives and Judy has | ||||||
| 4 | been responsible for the collection of over 28,000 pints of | ||||||
| 5 | blood; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Judy was recognized at a national level for her | ||||||
| 7 | extraordinary efforts by winning the Americas Blood Centers' | ||||||
| 8 | esteemed Larry Frederick Award; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, In 2012, LifeSource, Chicagoland's Blood Center, | ||||||
| 10 | nominated Judy Socha as the Most Dedicated Blood Drive | ||||||
| 11 | Coordinator in a State-wide competition hosted by the Illinois | ||||||
| 12 | Coalition of Community Blood Centers; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 14 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 15 | we commend Judy Socha for her selfless service to her community | ||||||
| 16 | for the past 40 years and for all the lives which have been | ||||||
| 17 | saved because of her efforts; and be it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to Judy Socha as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
