| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dan Osterman on the |
| 4 | | occasion of his retirement after 25 years of leading Two Rivers |
| 5 | | YMCA; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Dan Osterman has been with the YMCA for 40 years; |
| 7 | | he began his YMCA career as a teenager in Morton; he became |
| 8 | | involved with the youth group and volunteered as the teen |
| 9 | | representative to the board of directors; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Dan Osterman took a job at the Peoria YMCA as a |
| 11 | | locker room attendant and maintenance worker in 1971; he moved |
| 12 | | through the ranks, eventually becoming the executive director |
| 13 | | of a small YMCA in Chillicothe; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Dan Osterman became executive director of the YMCA |
| 15 | | in Clinton in 1982, and in 1987, accepted the Two Rivers post; |
| 16 | | there were 3,400 Moline YMCA members at the time and today |
| 17 | | there are 11,700; there are 275 employees and countless |
| 18 | | programs offered by the Moline-based facility; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Dan Osterman leaves knowing the YMCA's mission to |
| 20 | | put Christian principles into practice through programs that |
| 21 | | build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all remains in |
