HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Ken Nelson on 
4receiving the 2012 Illinois Family Physician of the Year award 
5from the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson has spent the past few years helping to 
7increase access to health care for uninsured persons in 
8Illinois; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson has spent over 20 years as a volunteer 
10at Community Nurse Health Association, through the Community 
11Healthcare Network of the Western Suburbs; he has put his 
12efforts into securing local specialty care for the uninsured 
13adults in the western suburbs, broadening the Illinois Good 
14Samaritan Law, and working through CURE to bring free medical, 
15dental, and vision, services to thousands of underserved 
16Illinoisans; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson completed his residency training in 
18family medicine at LaGrange Memorial Hospital and continued on 
19to the University of Chicago, where he completed a 
20post-doctoral fellowship in clinical pharmacology; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson helped found the Prairie Medical Group

1in the west suburb of Westchester; he has volunteered his 
2services at the LaGrange-based Community Nurse Health 
3Association's free clinic for adults and has served as the 
4clinic's medical director since 1992; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Ken Nelson will receive his award at the 
6Illinois Academy Awards Banquet on November 9th at the 
7Eaglewood Resort in Itasca; therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
10we congratulate Dr. Nelson on receiving the 2012 Illinois 
11Family Physician of the Year award; and be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to Dr. Nelson as an expression of our respect and 
14esteem.
