HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate and thank State Representative Kimberly du Buclet for her service to the people of the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Representative du Buclet was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago; she is heavily invested in her community, working daily to improve the lives of her constituents; and

WHEREAS, Representative du Buclet is proud to represent the same communities once represented by President Barack Obama while he served in the Illinois Senate; the 26th District stretches from Chicago's near North Side to the South Side and includes the neighborhoods of Bronzeville, Douglas, Grand Boulevard, Greater Grand Crossing, Hyde Park, Kenwood, the Loop, Oakland, South Shore, Washington Park, and Woodlawn; and

WHEREAS, Representative du Buclet attended high school at the University of Chicago Lab School; she subsequently earned her bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Illinois and her master's degree in marketing from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business; and

WHEREAS, As a businesswoman, Representative du Buclet formerly ran an executive search agency and worked as an executive with AT&T; she served as an undergraduate counselor at the University of Chicago and a professional development instructor at Roosevelt University; she has also long been involved in local politics and community work and is the policy chair for Friends of the Parks; and

WHEREAS, Representative du Buclet committed herself to being an open and accessible legislator who worked for job creation and economic development, a stronger education for Illinois' schoolchildren, safer neighborhoods, and more accessible and affordable healthcare; and

WHEREAS, During her time as a legislator, Representative du Buclet worked to pass laws aimed at preserving the rights of the mentally ill; strengthening foreclosure relief programs, including the creation of a Foreclosure Working Group within the State Housing Task Force; and creating a training program to help police officers better identify post-traumatic stress disorder in veterans; and

WHEREAS, Representative du Buclet has been happily married to her husband, Alex, for 22 years; together, they have 2 children; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we thank State Representative Kimberly du Buclet for her service in the Illinois General Assembly and for her dedication to the people of her district; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Representative Kimberly du Buclet as an expression of our respect and esteem and with our best wishes for her future success.
