| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to honor the tenure of our esteemed | ||||||
| 4 | colleague, State Representative Dena M. Carli, and thank her | ||||||
| 5 | for her dedicated service to the State of Illinois and her | ||||||
| 6 | community; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Dena Carli was born and raised in the Back of the | ||||||
| 8 | Yards community of Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Representative Carli has dutifully served as an | ||||||
| 10 | officer of the Chicago Police Department for 17 years and | ||||||
| 11 | currently holds the rank of sergeant; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Representative Carli used her extensive | ||||||
| 13 | experience and expertise in law enforcement to advocate for | ||||||
| 14 | strong public safety laws, including laws to prevent the | ||||||
| 15 | proliferation of gangs, protect victims, and crackdown on human | ||||||
| 16 | trafficking; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Representative Carli has been a leader for the 1st | ||||||
| 18 | Representative District, serving a multicultural district that | ||||||
| 19 | includes many first-generation Americans who are striving to | ||||||
| 20 | achieve the American dream; during her short time in office, | ||||||
| 21 | Representative Carli has worked diligently to bring attention | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | to the needs of local residents; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Representative Carli helped to pass significant | ||||||
| 3 | legislation to benefit the Latino and Asian communities, | ||||||
| 4 | specifically working for passage of the legislation creating | ||||||
| 5 | the Illinois DREAM Fund and the Asian-American Employment Plan | ||||||
| 6 | Advisory Council; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Representative Carli is a graduate of Saint Xavier | ||||||
| 8 | University, where she earned a master's degree in business | ||||||
| 9 | management with high honors; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Representative Carli attended Governors State | ||||||
| 11 | University for a Masters in Public Administration and an | ||||||
| 12 | undergraduate degree; she also participates in advancement | ||||||
| 13 | courses at Northwestern University for Leadership in Public | ||||||
| 14 | Safety; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Representative Carli is happily married to her | ||||||
| 16 | husband, Dennis; they are the proud parents of 3 wonderful | ||||||
| 17 | sons; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 19 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 20 | we congratulate and thank State Representative Dena M. Carli | ||||||
| 21 | for her dedicated service to the people of her district and to | ||||||

| 1 | the State of Illinois; and be it further
| ||||||
| 2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 3 | presented to Representative Carli as an expression of our | ||||||
| 4 | respect and esteem with our best wishes for her future success.
