| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to honor WLS-AM (890) hosts, Don & | ||||||
| 4 | Roma Wade, as they step down from their morning show after 27 | ||||||
| 5 | years; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The Don & Roma show historically has been one of | ||||||
| 7 | the top franchises on WLS since 1985, and their ratings | ||||||
| 8 | continue to be strong; they are the longest running morning | ||||||
| 9 | drive team in Chicago; their many awards include Talker | ||||||
| 10 | Magazine's Heavy Hitter 100, Local Radio Legends of America, | ||||||
| 11 | and the Marconi Award; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Don was born in New York City, attended William & | ||||||
| 13 | Mary College, and graduated from Boston University; among the | ||||||
| 14 | cities he worked in before landing in Chicago were | ||||||
| 15 | Philadelphia, Seattle, Buffalo, Dallas, and Denver; he is | ||||||
| 16 | passionate, witty, conservative, and always opinionated about | ||||||
| 17 | the political and social issues of the day; he thrives on | ||||||
| 18 | exposing and debunking the media bias and spin; when he landed | ||||||
| 19 | at WLS in 1985, he found a place where his opinions counted; | ||||||
| 20 | WLS talk radio became the perfect vehicle for his dissection of | ||||||
| 21 | politics, celebrities, and the media; and
| ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Roma, "The Voice of Reason", provides the | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | thoughtful balance that drives Don mad; she earned a bachelor's | ||||||
| 2 | degree and master's degree from Baylor University and attended | ||||||
| 3 | Washington State University; she has taught university, | ||||||
| 4 | community college, high school, and grade school (gifted | ||||||
| 5 | children); she is a self-taught home remodeler and has taught | ||||||
| 6 | kitchen remodeling and deck building; she is trained to teach | ||||||
| 7 | yoga and meditation; she is a self-professed health nut and | ||||||
| 8 | lover of all things spiritual and philosophical; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Don & Roma have been married since 1979; they have | ||||||
| 10 | 2 children, Hunter, a U.S. Marine Lt. Col., who completed his | ||||||
| 11 | master's degree at Industrial College of the Armed Forces at | ||||||
| 12 | Fort McNair in Washington, D.C., has completed 4 Iraq & | ||||||
| 13 | Afghanistan tours, and is a former Blue Angel, and Heather, who | ||||||
| 14 | graduated with honors from the University of Washington in | ||||||
| 15 | Seattle, is completing her final year in the prestigious MBA | ||||||
| 16 | Executive program at NYU, and is a Global Event Planning | ||||||
| 17 | Officer for CITI in New York City; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 19 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 20 | we are pleased to honor Don & Roma Wade as they step down as | ||||||
| 21 | hosts of the WLS morning show after 27 years; and be it further
| ||||||
| 22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 23 | presented to Don & Roma Wade as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
