HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly wish 
3to honor and congratulate State Representative Angelo "Skip" 
4Saviano on his 20 years of service to the people of Illinois 
5and the 77th Representative District; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano was born in Chicago 
7and later moved to Elmwood Park where he was raised and is 
8currently raising his family; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano began his career in 
101989 when elected as the Leyden Township Supervisor and served 
11for 4 years before being elected to the Illinois General 
12Assembly; he took office in January 1993; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano was appointed 
14chairman of the Registration and Regulation Committee in 1995, 
15and was reappointed to this chairmanship in 1997, becoming the 
16first member of a minority caucus to hold the title of chairman 
17in recent history; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano was instrumental in 
19many local projects including the Franklin Park Underpass; and
 
20    WHEREAS, By the Governor's appointment, Representative

1"Skip" Saviano was appointed to the Guardian and Advocacy 
2Commission in 2007; and
 
3    WHEREAS, By appointment of the 4 legislator leaders of the 
4Illinois General Assembly, Representative "Skip" Saviano was 
5appointed co-chair of the Joint Committee on Administrative 
6Rules (JCAR) in 2009; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano was known to be a 
8staunch advocate for those constituents with special needs, 
9most notably, his accomplishments with protecting the rights of 
10men, women, and children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum 
11Disorder; he was named the AutismOne Legislator of the Year 
12because of his efforts; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano was continuously 
14recognized for his work on behalf of the working class and was 
15a known friend to labor organizations; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano has been the key 
17negotiator on numerous amounts of key legislation and has 
18consistently worked across the aisle for the betterment of the 
19State of Illinois; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano has been awarded 
21hundreds of distinctions and honors including the Illinois

1Association of Chiefs of Police Legislator of the Year, 
2Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois Legislator of the Year, 
3Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans Joseph Cardinal 
4Bernardin Humanitarian of the Year, and the NEDSRA and People 
5with Disabilities Legislator of the Year; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano received the 2012 
7Golden Horseshoe Lifetime Achievement Award for this complete 
8perseverance and commitment to the People of the State of 
9Illinois; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano has always 
11maintained an "open-door" policy and he has always welcomed any 
12constituent to visit his office; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano has demonstrated a 
14deep commitment to both his district and constituents, and has 
15earned a reputation as someone who will persistently seek out 
16answers and results; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano is an exceptional 
18chef known throughout the entire State and has served as a 
19celebrity chef for many organizations; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Representative "Skip" Saviano has thrown the end 
21of session party for several years to show his appreciation for

1all of the work and dedication staff puts into the legislative 
2process; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5Representative "Skip" Saviano has demonstrated a deep 
6commitment to both his district and constituents, and has 
7earned a reputation as someone who will persistently seek out 
8answers and results; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, Representative "Skip" Saviano will be sorely 
10missed in Springfield and throughout the 77th district,  and  the 
11Illinois General Assembly wishes him success in his future 
12endeavors; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14presented to Representative Angelo "Skip" Saviano as an 
15expression of our esteem and respect.
