HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Representative Paul Evans on his service and accomplishments in the General Assembly and his commitment to the people of the 102nd District; and

WHEREAS, Representative Evans received his bachelor's degree and his Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, Representative Evans is a practicing attorney and is the principal attorney of Evans Law Firm; and

WHEREAS, Representative Evans has served as a Zoning Hearing Officer for the cities of O'Fallon and New Baden; and

WHEREAS, Representative Evans served on the Metro-East Parks and Recreation District Board for 10 years and helped found the O'Fallon Early Childhood Educational Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Representative Evans served on the St. Teresa Catholic School Board and was appointed to the Catholic Diocese of Belleville's Catholic Education Initiative as one of 5 committee chairs; he remains an active member of the Sunrise Rotary O'Fallon Morning Club and the Spina Bifida Association; and

WHEREAS, Representative Evans is a member of the Human Services and Public Safety Appropriations Committees; he also served on the Small Business Empowerment & Workforce, Tourism & Conventions, Consumer Protection, Environmental Health, and Labor Committees during the 97th General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, Representative Evans passed legislation which was signed into law requiring the Department of Children and Family Services to release all documents, records, and books created or used in the investigation of a child's life-threatening injury or death; and

WHEREAS, Representative Evans sponsored legislation that strengthened child protection laws, stopped pension fund abuse, reduced State fees, and eliminated the abused General Assembly scholarship program; and

WHEREAS, Representative Evans remains a steadfast advocate in the legislature and in the community protecting children, disabled adults, and the elderly from abuse and harm; and

WHEREAS, Representative Evans and his wife, Sandra, have 3 children, Loryn, Erin, and Bryce; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we thank and honor our friend and colleague, Illinois State Representative Paul Evans, for his public service and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Representative Evans as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
