| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 3-710 as follows:
|

| 7 | | Sec. 3-710. Display of false insurance card. No person |
| 8 | | shall display
evidence of insurance to a law enforcement |
| 9 | | officer, court, or officer of

valid liability insurance in effect on the motor vehicle as |
| 11 | | required under
Section 7-601 of this Code or knowing the |
| 12 | | evidence of insurance is
illegally altered, counterfeit, or |
| 13 | | otherwise invalid as evidence of
insurance required under |
| 14 | | Section 7-602 of this Code. If the law
enforcement officer |
| 15 | | issues a citation to a motor vehicle operator for
displaying |
| 16 | | invalid evidence of insurance, the officer shall confiscate the
|
| 17 | | evidence for presentation in court. |
| 18 | | Any person convicted of violating this Section is guilty of |
| 19 | | a Class A
misdemeanor.
