AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1405




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1405 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause  with the following:

 
4    "Section 5. The General Assembly Compensation Act is 
5amended by adding Section 1.7 as follows:
 
6    (25 ILCS 115/1.7 new)
7    Sec. 1.7. FY12 furlough days. During the fiscal year 
8beginning July 1, 2011, every member of the General Assembly is 
9required to forfeit 24 days of compensation.  The State 
10Comptroller shall deduct the equivalent of 2/261st of the 
11annual salary of each member of the 97th General Assembly from 
12the compensation of that member in each month of the fiscal 
13year. For purposes of this Section, annual compensation 
14includes compensation paid to each member by the State for one 
15year of service pursuant to Section 1, except any payments made 
16for mileage and allowances for travel and meals. The forfeiture

1required by this Section is not considered a change in salary 
2and shall not impact pension or other benefits provided to 
3members of the General Assembly.

 
4    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
5becoming law.".
