| 1 | | AN ACT concerning transportation.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 3-696 as follows: |
| 6 | | (625 ILCS 5/3-696 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 3-696. Equestrian license plates. |
| 8 | | (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and |
| 9 | | applications
made in the form prescribed by the Secretary, may |
| 10 | | issue special registration
plates designated as equestrian
|
| 11 | | license plates. The special plates issued under this Section |
| 12 | | shall be affixed only to
passenger vehicles of the first |
| 13 | | division or motor vehicles of the second
division weighing not |
| 14 | | more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued under this Section shall |
| 15 | | expire according to the multi-year
procedure established by |
| 16 | | Section 3-414.1 of this Code. |
| 17 | | (b) The design and color of the special plates shall be |
| 18 | | wholly within the
discretion of the Secretary. The Secretary |
| 19 | | may allow the plates to be issued as vanity plates or
|
| 20 | | personalized plates under Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The |
| 21 | | Secretary shall
prescribe stickers or decals as provided under |
| 22 | | Section 3-412 of this Code. |
| 23 | | (c) An applicant for the special plate shall be charged a |
