AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1727 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1727 on page 1, by 
3inserting after line 3 the following:




 
 
4    "Section 2. The State Finance Act is amended by adding 
5Section 5.786 as follows:
 
6    (30 ILCS 105/5.786 new)
7    Sec. 5.786. The Illinois State Police Memorial Park Fund."; 
8and
 

9on page 1, line 5 by replacing "Section 3-696" with "Sections 
103-696 and 3-697"; and
 

11on page 2, by inserting after line 6 the following:
 
12    "(625 ILCS 5/3-697 new)
13    Sec. 3-697. Illinois State Police Memorial Park license

1plates.
2    (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of an application made in 
3the form prescribed by the Secretary of State, may issue 
4special registration plates designated as Illinois State 
5Police Memorial Park license plates. The special plates issued 
6under this Section shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles 
7of the first division or motor vehicles of the second division 
8weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued under this 
9Section shall expire according to the multi-year procedure 
10established by Section 3-414.1 of this Code.

11    (b) The design and color of the plates shall be wholly 
12within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The Secretary 
13may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be issued as 
14vanity or personalized plates in accordance with Section 
153-405.1 of this Code. The Secretary shall prescribe stickers or 
16decals as provided under Section 3-412 of this Code.
17    (c) An applicant shall be charged a $25 fee for original 
18issuance in addition to the appropriate registration fee, if 
19applicable. Of this fee, $10 shall be deposited into the 
20Illinois State Police Memorial Park  Fund and $15 shall be 
21deposited into the Secretary of State Special License Plate 
22Fund. For each registration renewal period, a $25 fee, in 
23addition to the appropriate registration fee, shall be charged. 
24Of this fee, $23 shall be deposited into the Illinois State 
25Police Memorial Park  Fund and $2 shall be deposited into the 
26Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund.

1    (d) The Illinois State Police Memorial Park Fund is created 
2as a special fund in
the State treasury. All moneys in the 
3Illinois State Police Memorial Park Fund shall be
paid, subject 
4to appropriation by the General Assembly and
approval by the 
5Secretary, as grants to the Illinois State Police Heritage 
6Foundation, Inc. for building and maintaining a memorial and 
7park, holding an annual memorial commemoration, giving 
8scholarships to children of State police officers killed or 
9catastrophically injured in the line of duty, and providing 
10financial assistance to police officers and their families when 
11a police officer is killed or injured in the line of duty.".
