| 6 | | (b) The State Board of Education is authorized to provide |
| 7 | | for the assignment of individuals to special education |
| 8 | | positions by short-term, emergency certification. Short-term, |
| 9 | | emergency certification shall not be renewed. |
| 10 | | (c) The State Board of Education is authorized to use |
| 11 | | peremptory rulemaking, in accordance with Section 5-50 of the |
| 12 | | Illinois Administrative Procedure Act, to place into the |
| 13 | | Illinois Administrative Code the certification policies and |
| 14 | | standards related to special education, as authorized under |
| 15 | | this Section, that the State Board has been required to |
| 16 | | implement pursuant to federal court orders dated February 27, |
| 17 | | 2001, August 15, 2001, and September 11, 2002 in the matter of |
| 18 | | Corey H., et al. v. Board of Education of the City of Chicago, |
| 19 | | et al. The State Teacher Certification Board shall |
| 20 | | categorically certify a special
education teacher in one or |
| 21 | | more of the following specialized categories of
disability if |
| 22 | | the special education teacher applies and qualifies for such
|
| 23 | | certification:
|
| 24 | | (1) Serious emotional disturbance.
|
| 25 | | (2) Learning disabilities.
|
| 26 | | (3) Autism.
|
