AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1837 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1837 on page 4, by 
3inserting immediately below line 10 the following:

 
4    "Section 10. The Mental Health Court Treatment Act is 
5amended  by adding Section 40 as follows:
 
6    (730 ILCS 168/40 new)
7    Sec. 40. Mental health court; Kane County. 
8    (a) The mental health court currently operating in Kane 
9County is directed to demonstrate the impact of alternative 
10treatment court, crisis intervention training for first 
11responders, and assisted outpatient treatment in reducing the 
12number of mentally ill people admitted into the correctional 
13system.   The mental health court in Kane County is authorized to 
14cooperate with one or more accredited mental health service 
15providers to provide services to defendants as directed by the 
16mental health court.  The mental health court in Kane County is

1authorized to cooperate with one or more institutions of higher 
2education to publish peer-reviewed studies of the outcomes 
3generated by the mental health court.
4    (b) In this Section, "accredited mental health service 
5provider" refers to a provider of community mental health 
6services as authorized by subsection (d-5) of Section 3 of the 
7Community Services Act.".
