AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1948




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1948, AS AMENDED, 
3by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the 
4following:


 
5    "Section 5. The Children's Health Insurance Program Act is 
6amended  by adding Section 65 as follows:
 
7    (215 ILCS 106/65 new)
8    Sec. 65. Dental home initiative.  The Department, in 
9cooperation with the dental community and other affected 
10organizations such as Head Start, shall work to develop and 
11promote the concept of a dental home for children covered under 
12this Act.  Included in this dental home outreach should be an 
13effort to ensure an ongoing relationship between the patient 
14and the dentist with an effort to provide comprehensive, 
15coordinated, oral health care so that all children covered 
16under this Act have access to preventative and restorative oral

1health care.
 
2    Section 10. The Covering ALL KIDS Health Insurance  Act is 
3amended  by adding Section 54 as follows:
 
4    (215 ILCS 170/54 new)
5    Sec. 54. Dental home initiative. The Department, in 
6cooperation with the dental community and other affected 
7organizations such as Head Start, shall work to develop and 
8promote the concept of a dental home for children covered under 
9this Act.  Included in this dental home outreach should be an 
10effort to ensure an ongoing relationship between the patient 
11and the dentist with an effort to provide comprehensive, 
12coordinated, oral health care so that all children covered 
13under this Act have access to preventative and restorative oral 
14health care.
 
15    Section 15. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended  by 
16adding Section 5-5.06 as follows:
 
17    (305 ILCS 5/5-5.06 new)
18    Sec. 5-5.06. Dental home initiative. The Department, in 
19cooperation with the dental community and other affected 
20organizations such as Head Start, shall work to develop and 
21promote the concept of a dental home for children covered under
