| 1 | | AN ACT concerning transportation.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 3-664 as follows: |
| 6 | | (625 ILCS 5/3-664)

| 7 | | Sec. 3-664. Gold Star license plates. Upon proper |
| 8 | | application, the Secretary of State shall
issue registration |
| 9 | | plates designated as Gold Star license plates to any Illinois |
| 10 | | resident who is the
surviving widow, widower, sibling, or |
| 11 | | parent of a person who served in the Armed Forces of the United |
| 12 | | States and
lost his or her life while in service whether in |
| 13 | | peacetime or war. The
surviving widow or widower and each |
| 14 | | surviving parent and sibling , or in the absence of a surviving |
| 15 | | parent, only one surviving sibling shall be issued one or more |
| 16 | | sets set of registration plates. Registration plates issued |
| 17 | | under this
Section shall be for first division vehicles and |
| 18 | | second division vehicles
of 8,000 pounds or less. The Secretary |
| 19 | | may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be issued as |
| 20 | | vanity or personalized plates in accordance with Section |
| 21 | | 3-405.1 of this Code. An applicant shall be charged only the |
| 22 | | appropriate registration fee.
