| 1 | | AN ACT concerning criminal law.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 31-5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (720 ILCS 5/31-5) (from Ch. 38, par. 31-5)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 31-5. Concealing or aiding a fugitive.
|
| 8 | | (a) Every person not standing in the relation of husband, |
| 9 | | wife, parent,
child, brother or sister to the offender, who, |
| 10 | | with intent to prevent the
apprehension of the offender, |
| 11 | | conceals his knowledge that an offense has
been committed or |
| 12 | | harbors, aids or conceals the offender, commits a Class 4
|
| 13 | | felony. |
| 14 | | (b) Every person, 18 years of age or older, who, with
|
| 15 | | intent to prevent the apprehension of the offender, aids or
|
| 16 | | assists the offender, by some volitional act, in fleeing the
|
| 17 | | municipality, county, State, country, or other defined
|
| 18 | | jurisdiction in which the offender is to be arrested, charged,
|
| 19 | | or prosecuted, commits a Class 4 felony.
