AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2780




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2780 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended  by adding 
5Section 24-3.5-5 as follows:
 
6    (720 ILCS 5/24-3.5-5 new)
7    Sec. 24-3.5-5. Persons prohibited from receiving firearms 
8under federal law; prohibited receipt, possession, transport, 
9or carrying. 
10    (a)    It is unlawful for an individual in the course of their 
11employment  to receive, possess, transport, or carry any firearm 
12or ammunition while: (1) being employed for any person who 
13cannot own, possess, or acquire a firearm under 18 U.S.C. 
14922(g);    and (2) having knowledge of the prohibition on 
15ownership, possession or acquisition of firearms by that 
16person.

1    (b)   It is unlawful for an individual who cannot own, 
2possess, or acquire a firearm under 18 U.S.C. 922 (g), to 
3direct another person to receive, possess, transport, or carry 
4any firearm or ammunition.
5    (c)    Sentence.  A violation of subsection (a) of this Section 
6is a Class 3 felony. A violation of subsection (b) of this 
7Section is a Class 1 felony.
 

8    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
9becoming law.".
