| 1 | | AN ACT concerning safety.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 52.4 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (415 ILCS 5/52.4 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 52.4. Airborne emission reduction study. The Agency |
| 8 | | shall conduct a study comparing the airborne emission |
| 9 | | reductions of coal-fired electric generating units within the |
| 10 | | State of Illinois between 1990 and 2012 and forecasting |
| 11 | | additional reductions for the period from 2013 to 2020. The |
| 12 | | Agency shall identify where and how Agency policies have led to |
| 13 | | airborne emission reductions and are likely to lead to |
| 14 | | additional reductions going forward and which Illinois |
| 15 | | regulations are unnecessary because of more stringent State or |
| 16 | | federal regulations. The Agency shall consult with the owner of |
| 17 | | each coal-fired electric generating unit in the State when |
| 18 | | compiling this information.

| 19 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 20 | | becoming law.
