| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Unified Code of Corrections is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 5-8A-8 as follows:

| 6 | | (730 ILCS 5/5-8A-8 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 5-8A-8. Electronic home detention; custody. A person |
| 8 | | serving a sentence for a conviction of an offense who is placed |
| 9 | | in an electronic home detention program under this Article is |
| 10 | | considered to be committed to the custody of the sheriff in |
| 11 | | accordance with subsection (b) of Section 5-8-6 of this Code.
