| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Douglas Brown, who passed away on |
| 4 | | February 15, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Douglas Brown was born on June 5, 1952, in |
| 6 | | Chicago; his parents were Eunice Brown and Joseph Kyles; he was |
| 7 | | raised and nurtured in a loving environment while residing in |
| 8 | | the Hyde Park and Avalon / Chatham neighborhoods on Chicago's |
| 9 | | South Side; in 1977, he met Zondra Moseberry, who later gave |
| 10 | | birth to his only child, Lakeisha; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Douglas Brown accepted Christ at a young age while |
| 12 | | attending the First Gideon Baptist Church under the leadership |
| 13 | | of the late Reverend Robert Yancy; he attended Avalon Park |
| 14 | | Grammar School and later graduated from Chicago Vocational High |
| 15 | | School, where he majored in sheet metal; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, After high school, Douglas Brown went straight to |
| 17 | | work at Hector's Service Station on 67th and Jeffery; he later |
| 18 | | worked at N & L Company before working as a receiving clerk at |
| 19 | | Evans' Furriers; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Douglas Brown was an avid reader and was |
| 21 | | well-versed in local and national politics and world affairs; |
|

| 1 | | he was well known as a handyman around the neighborhood in |
| 2 | | which he lived and was well-loved by all who knew him; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Douglas Brown is survived by his devoted mother, |
| 4 | | Eunice Brown (Wigfall); his daughter, Lakeisha Robinson; his |
| 5 | | grandchildren, Savannah and Maurice; his brothers, Richard, |
| 6 | | Dennis, and Alan (Melva); his nieces, Tricia Walton (Willie), |
| 7 | | Denyse Jones (Leon), and Laquesha Rowland; his espoused |
| 8 | | siblings, Brenda Harper-Clark, Jerry Waters, Cleveland |
| 9 | | Denmark, and Charles Dentley; his great aunt, Pearlie Straits |
| 10 | | (James); his great great-uncle, Conrad Herring; and his many |
| 11 | | aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
| 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 14 | | his family and friends, the passing of Douglas Brown; and be it |
| 15 | | further

| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 17 | | presented to the family of Douglas Brown as an expression of |
| 18 | | our sympathy.
