SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Glenn Roberson of Peoria, who passed away on March 10, 2011; and

WHEREAS, He was born on November 3, 1938, in Chidester, Arkansas; he married Angela "Nickie" Murray on April 28, 1984, in Elon, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, He received his bachelor's degree from Illinois State University and his master's degree from Bradley University; he began his career as a teacher at Irving Grade School and a sociology instructor at St. Francis School of Nursing; for more than 27 years, he was a well-known college administrator at Illinois Central College, where he served as Vice President of Student Services and Vice President of School and State Relations; and

WHEREAS, He was affiliated with various educational, professional, and community organizations, including the Peoria and Illinois Education Associations, the Illinois ACT Advisory Board, the Peoria Race Relations Committee, the Peoria Tri-County Urban League, and the Peoria Jaycees; he was a sports enthusiast and an avid reader; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Tony Roberson, his mother, Blanch Thorn Roberson Little; his brother, Henry Roberson, and his sister, Josephine Cruse; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Roberson is survived by his wife, Nickie Roberson; his sons, Lance (Patti Seep) Roberson, Eric Roberson and Keith (Dawn) Roberson; his sister, Geraldine Harris; and his two loving grandsons, Jaden and Kai; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Glenn Roberson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Glenn Roberson as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
