| 2 | | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois recognizes the historical |
| 3 | | tradition of ethical values and principles which are the basis |
| 4 | | of civilized society and upon which our great nation was |
| 5 | | founded; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, These ethical values and principles have been the |
| 7 | | bedrock of society from the dawn of civilization, when they |
| 8 | | were known as the Seven Noahide Laws; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, In order to secure a bright future for America, we |
| 10 | | must instill in our children a love of learning as well as a |
| 11 | | spirit of compassion, two of our nation's most cherished and |
| 12 | | enduring values; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, The Lubavitch-Chabad movement has fostered and |
| 14 | | promoted these ethical values and principles in more than 3,000 |
| 15 | | communities around the world, and through the educational and |
| 16 | | social service programs of their 32 centers in Illinois; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The importance of education and kindness was |
| 18 | | promoted in the teachings and programs of Rabbi Menachem Mendel |
| 19 | | Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe of righteous memory, by |
| 20 | | inspiring countless individuals to uphold these values in their |
| 21 | | own lives and communities; and
