SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Officer Thomas E. Wortham IV, who passed 
4away May 20, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Officer Wortham had recently returned from his 
6second tour of duty in Iraq while serving with the Wisconsin 
7Army National Guard; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Officer Wortham was appointed to the Chicago 
9Police Department and served faithfully for nearly three years 
10and was assigned to the Englewood District; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Officer Wortham previously served with the 
12Evergreen Park Police Department; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Officer Wortham was a second generation officer 
14with the Chicago Police Department, preceded by his father who 
15retired at the rank of sergeant; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, The Chicago Police Department has retired Officer 
17Wortham IV's star, numbered 6181; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Officer Wortham was a proud member of the Chicago 
19Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7; and

1    WHEREAS, Officer Wortham leaves behind his sister and his 
2parents; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Officer Wortham dedicated and gave his life to 
4protecting and serving the people of Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
7his family, friends, and Fraternal Order of Police brothers and 
8sisters, the passing of Officer Thomas E. Wortham IV; and be it 
9further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Officer Wortham as an expression of 
12our sympathy.
