| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Paul Simmons Jr.; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Paul Simmons Jr. was born on May 10, 1993, in |
| 5 | | Chicago; his parents were Vera Angion-Simmons and Paul Simmons |
| 6 | | Sr.; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Paul Simmons Jr. attended Bunnyland Daycare until |
| 8 | | he graduated from kindergarten; at the age of six, he tried his |
| 9 | | hand in acting by auditioning for a production of The Lion |
| 10 | | King; he started his educational career at St. Margaret of |
| 11 | | Scotland Elementary School, where he attended from 1st to 4th |
| 12 | | grade; after attending Basil Elementary School for 5th through |
| 13 | | 7th grade, he returned to St. Margaret, where he graduated in |
| 14 | | 2007; he then graduated from Marist Catholic High School, where |
| 15 | | he was a captain of the varsity basketball team; he was |
| 16 | | planning to attend Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama on a |
| 17 | | full basketball scholarship at the time of his passing; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Paul Simmons Jr. was a member of the Boy Scouts |
| 19 | | for many years; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Paul Simmons Jr. worked at the Chicago Park |
| 21 | | District Seasonal Division as a landscaper; he also worked with |
|

| 1 | | Sports 37 throughout his school years; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Paul Simmons Jr. competed in the AAU National |
| 3 | | basketball league, which took him all over the United States; |
| 4 | | and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Paul Simmons Jr. loved to be around his family and |
| 6 | | friends, especially his favorite cousin, Edward Simmons Jr.; |
| 7 | | his greatest desire was to attend college, where he wanted to |
| 8 | | major in business finance and continue his passion of playing |
| 9 | | basketball; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Paul Simmons Jr. was preceded in death by his |
| 11 | | grandmothers, Dorothy Angion and Annie Simmons, and his sister, |
| 12 | | Shikinna Hall; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Paul Simmons Jr. is survived by his parents; his |
| 14 | | sisters, Qiana Simmons, Shouna "Doo Doo" Angion, and Dorothy |
| 15 | | Angion; his nieces, Toyette Hall and Alyssa "Suga Mama" |
| 16 | | McKinney; his nephew, Alfonso "AJ" McKinney Jr.; his |
| 17 | | great-nephew, Brian Hall; his favorite cousin, Yolanda |
| 18 | | Wortman; his girlfriend, Kayla King; and his many uncles, |
| 19 | | aunts, cousins, family, and friends; therefore, be it

| 20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
