| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Assaf "Tony" Trad Sr. of East Peoria, who |
| 4 | | passed away on July 30, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born February 17, 1921, in Itoo, Lebanon, |
| 6 | | to Antonios Khair Trad and Martha Slyman; he married Dalal |
| 7 | | Younes on February 10, 1941, in Itoo; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, He was a member of the Itoo Society of Peoria; he |
| 9 | | was a member of St. Sharbel Maronite Church in Peoria and an |
| 10 | | avid supporter and volunteer at the St. Sharbel Church and Food |
| 11 | | Festivals; his passion was farming his land in Lebanon, and he |
| 12 | | was a co-owner of a furniture store in Venezuela, South |
| 13 | | America, before he moved to the United States in 1979; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, He was the co-founder of Aleece's Pita Chips, and |
| 15 | | worked at Anthony's Tavern and Fon Du Lac Park District; while |
| 16 | | living in the United States, he went to each of his children's |
| 17 | | homes to plant gardens; he used his hands and skills to teach |
| 18 | | his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of |
| 19 | | his life, the art of gardening; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; |
| 21 | | his sisters, Wardiah Younes and Jamela Trad; his daughter, |
