SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gary Wendell Poynor of Benton, who passed away on September 2, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Gary Poynor was born on July 10, 1940, in Hamilton County; he was the son of Loren and Wilma (Nalley) Poynor; he married the love of his life, the former Linda Kay Evans, on July 18, 1959; and

WHEREAS, Gary Poynor was a concrete finisher and contractor; he was the owner and operator of Poynor Concrete; he also formerly served as a business agent for the OP and CMIA and worked for the J.W. Reynolds Monument Company as a sales representative; and

WHEREAS, Gary Poynor was a member of the Oddfellows Charity Lodge in Benton, where he served as Noble Grand; he was also a member of the Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery Board in Benton and the New Life Church of God in Benton; and

WHEREAS, Gary Poynor enjoyed restoring antique automobiles in his later years; and

WHEREAS, Gary Poynor was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Linda; his stepfather, Joe Carroll; his brothers, Richard and Paul Poynor; and his sister, Melba Higgerson; and

WHEREAS, Gary Poynor is survived by his children, Steve Poynor and his wife, Tammy, and Rebecca Wallace and her husband, David; his grandchildren, Larry Levault, Jared Westerland, Tyler, Joshua, and Alyssa Poynor, Bethany, Madison, Savannah Grace, and Max Wallace; his sister, Mary Lampley; his half-brother, Jim Carroll; his great-granddaughter, Jayda Kay Kind; his special niece, Rhonda Trusty; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Gary Wendell Poynor; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gary Poynor as an expression of our sympathy.
