| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Urban Hipp of Aurora, who passed away |
| 4 | | September 4, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born in Aurora on March 28, 1913, the son |
| 6 | | of the late Fred and Elizabeth Hipp; he attended Fox Valley |
| 7 | | High School and graduated from East Aurora High School; he |
| 8 | | attended the University of Illinois, graduating in 1936 with a |
| 9 | | degree in business, and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta |
| 10 | | Fraternity; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Upon finishing college, he became employed with |
| 12 | | U.S. Steel; on May 21, 1938, he married Margaret Barber of |
| 13 | | Aurora, whom he met at the University of Illinois; in 1939, he |
| 14 | | joined Barber Greene Company, serving in many management |
| 15 | | positions, including Treasurer and Vice President of Finance, |
| 16 | | and was a Director until his retirement in 1978; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, He was very active in the business community, |
| 18 | | serving as a Director of Mercy Center, the Old Second National |
| 19 | | Bank of Aurora, Aurora Metal, the State of Illinois Chamber of |
| 20 | | Commerce, and the Aurora Country Club; he was an avid golfer, |
| 21 | | fisherman, poker and scrabble player, but he was also someone |
| 22 | | who enjoyed opening himself to new and different experiences |
