SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Theresa Ann Funke of Batavia, formerly of
4Evanston, Indiana, who passed away August 26, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She was born February 21, 1952 in Evansville,
6Indiana, the daughter of Ludwig and Marie (nee Greif) Funke;
7she was united in marriage to Stephen DeCoursey; she graduated
8in 1970 from Memorial High school in Evansville and received
9her BFA in 1974 from Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame and her
10MFA from American University in 1976; and
 
11    WHEREAS, To share her knowledge of art, she later received
12her teaching degree from Northern Illinois University; she had
13many interests, including travel (especially Italy), horses,
14home building, cooking, photography, but especially art; she
15loved interacting, challenging, and guiding her students in all
16forms of art and was repeatedly recognized by students at
17Naperville Central High School for being an inspiration in
18their learning; and
 
19    WHEREAS, She lived her faith and was passionate in sharing
20and exploring her interests with friends and family, near and
21far; her grace, exuberance, and passion for life will be
22missed; and

1    WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Theresa Funke is survived by her beloved husband,
3Stephen; her sons, Kellen Daniel and Devin Patrick DeCoursey;
4her siblings, Caroline (David) Pyle, Rose Marie (George)
5Brothers, Mary (John) MacCauley, Ludwig (Rebecca) Funke, and
6Christine (Robert) Goad; and many dear nieces and nephews;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10her family and friends, the passing of Theresa Funke; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Theresa Funke as a symbol of our
14sincere sympathy.
