| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Hallie Amey, who passed away on July 19, |
| 4 | | 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Hallie Amey was born on March 24, 1922, in |
| 6 | | Mississippi; in 1951, she moved with her husband and children |
| 7 | | to Wentworth Gardens, where she lived and worked for the |
| 8 | | betterment of the Wentworth community into her senior years; |
| 9 | | and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Hallie Amey served as a resident commissioner with |
| 11 | | the Chicago Housing Authority; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, As a longtime community activist, Hallie Amey |
| 13 | | helped bring much needed services, including a store, a |
| 14 | | pre-school program, and youth activities, to the residents of |
| 15 | | Wentworth Gardens; she served as the president of the Wentworth |
| 16 | | Garden Resident Management Corporation, secretary of the Local |
| 17 | | Advisory Council, and a board member of the Beatrice Caffrey |
| 18 | | Youth Services Center, the Chicago Area Project, and Friends of |
| 19 | | the Park; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Hallie Amey is survived by her daughters, Frankie |
| 21 | | Amey, Ethel Amey-Robinson, Victoria Amey-Flippin, and Velma |
