SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3learn of the death of
Steven B. Munson of Elgin, who passed 
4away on September 29, 2011; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Steven Munson was born on August 12, 1956, in 
6Chicago; he was the son of Leonard and Dorothy (Peterson) 
7Munson; he married his wife, former Illinois State 
8Representative Ruth Munson, on May 5, 1984, in Waukegan; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Steven Munson graduated from Lane Tech High School 
10in Chicago in 1974 and earned his bachelor's degree from 
11Northern Illinois University in 1981; he and his family moved 
12to Elgin in 1990; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Steven Munson was a software developer and ran the 
14family-owned business, EveryWare Inc.; he also was a partner in 
15BocaJump.com, an online website that promotes his beloved 
16Elgin; a technology wizard, he loved his community and used his 
17considerable "geek power" to help many civic and social 
18organizations; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Steven Munson served on the board of the Downtown 
20Neighborhood Association in many capacities from 2000 until his 
21death and led the board as its president for many of those

1years; he provided leadership on the board of United Way of 
2Elgin, most recently serving as its treasurer and advisor on 
3technology issues; he also quietly and compassionately 
4supported community initiatives, local agencies, and 
5volunteers in serving those most in need; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Steven Munson was preceded in death by his father; 
7and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Steven Munson is survived by his loving wife, 
9former Illinois State Representative Ruth Munson; his 
10children, Ryan and Olivia; his mother, Dorothy; his brother, 
11Robert (Diane) Munson; his brothers-in-law, John (Deloris), 
12Mark (Corrine), and Matthew (Lori) Nordigian; his 
13mother-in-law, Shirley; and his many nieces and nephews; 
14therefore, be it
  
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL 
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
17his family and friends, the passing of Steven B. Munson; and be 
18it further
  
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
20presented to the family of Steven Munson as an expression of 
21our sympathy.
