| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of
Dennis A. "Denny" Yost, who passed away |
| 4 | | on November 1, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Yost was born on July 2, 1937, in Alton; he |
| 6 | | was the son of Fred and Evelyn (Scott) Yost; he married the |
| 7 | | former Mary A. O'Neal on December 6, 1980, in Godfrey; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Yost earned his bachelor's degree from |
| 9 | | Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Yost retired from the United States Navy |
| 11 | | with the rank of lieutenant after 4 tours of duty in Vietnam |
| 12 | | and over 600 combat missions as a Radar Intercept Officer in |
| 13 | | F-4B Phantom jet fighters; he was also a graduate and |
| 14 | | instructor at the Navy's Top Gun Fighter School; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, In recognition of his service to our country, |
| 16 | | Dennis Yost was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, 24 Air |
| 17 | | Medals, and a Navy Commendation Medal with two Stars and Combat |
| 18 | | "V"; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Yost was an operator at Amoco in Wood |
| 20 | | River, Whiting, Indiana, and Casper, Wyoming, from 1976 until |
|

| 1 | | his retirement in 1995; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Yost was of the Catholic faith; he was a |
| 3 | | member of the Alton VFW Post 1308, the National Rifle |
| 4 | | Association, the Austin Healey Club, and the Retired Officers |
| 5 | | Association; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Yost enjoyed cooking, woodworking, |
| 7 | | winemaking, mechanics, and lawn care; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Yost was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 9 | | and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Yost is survived by his wife, Mary; his |
| 11 | | children and their spouses, Lisa Sanders, Renee and Doug Myers, |
| 12 | | Nicki and Tony Lopez, Dale Alan and Sarah Davis, Kim and Matt |
| 13 | | DuBois, and Danny and Sheila Davis; his grandchildren, Alisha, |
| 14 | | Ben, Shaun, Luke, Chris, Dennis, Laci, Nick, Zach, Garrett, |
| 15 | | Stephanie, Monica, Heather, Misty, Justin, Deric, Dru, and |
| 16 | | Kylee; his 6 great-grandchildren; his brothers and |
| 17 | | sister-in-law, Larry and Susan Yost and Douglas Yost; and his |
| 18 | | many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends; therefore, be |
| 19 | | it
