| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of SPC Christopher Patterson who passed away |
| 4 | | January 6, 2012, while proudly serving his country in the |
| 5 | | Kandahar Province in Afghanistan; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, He was born April 17, 1991 in Philadelphia, |
| 7 | | Pennsylvania, the son of Robert and Mary (nee, Schneider) |
| 8 | | Patterson; he was a 2009 graduate of West Aurora High School, |
| 9 | | and was continuing his studies in music education at Valparaiso |
| 10 | | University in Indiana; he was a member of the professional |
| 11 | | music fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and toured with the |
| 12 | | school's premiere vocal ensemble, the Chorale; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, He also composed and arranged music with the a |
| 14 | | cappella group VuVox and for the West High STUDy Hall Choir; he |
| 15 | | was co-captain and first board for the West High Chess Team and |
| 16 | | was honored to be under the tutelage of Robert Payne; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Coming from a strong military family, he enlisted |
| 18 | | with the Indiana National Guard and served as a 12B Combat |
| 19 | | Engineer with the 713th Engineering Company (Sapper) based out |
| 20 | | of the Valparaiso Armory; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, SPC Christopher Patterson is survived by his |
